Swimming is great fun however if you are a beginner you are bound to face certain challenges. Some novice swimmers are apprehensive about putting their head inside the water lest they experience breathing problems. However, there is nothing to worry about. Every beginner does feel apprehensive about swimming but in time gets used to it. Since you have just started swimming, it will be so much better to have a swim buddy with you. The person who swims along with you should have more experience and skill in swimming than you so that they can guide you whenever required. Having a trusted person with you inside the water is also a lot of peace of mind. They are constantly there to point out your mistakes and appreciate you when you are going fine. If you are beginner, you are bound to feel water as a foreign place to be in. So the first step for the beginner is to get the feel for the water and understand it better. It is like adapting yourself after moving in a new city. When you are in water, let go and let it grow on you. Let your body loose and try to float. You can also try to practice sculling where the water is shallow. It will help you get much better feel of water. For the novice swimmers, it is quite important to spend as much time in water as possible. The more you will remain inside water the more you will get accustomed to it.
