Does a Cup or Two a Day Really Help Your Health

For a long time, there has been some hype about the benefits of red wine to the hearth, specifically.  Getting the facts straight about how red wine can actually benefit (or harm) your heart´s health, but facts are not 100% conclusive just yet.  It seems to be, however, that red wine has more benefits than other types of alcohol.  Then again, there is no solid evidence to support this fact.

The key ingredient in red wine, object of research, is called resveratrol.  Resveratrol is a substance found in grapes that helps prevent blood vessel damage and decreases the production of low-density lipoprotein (LDS) which have harmful effects on your body.  It is thought, in fact, that moderate consumption of alcohol can stimulate the production of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) which are actually good for you.

Doctors believe that this is partly why red wine might be beneficial to your heart. Research has been performed about the true benefits of alcohol to your overall health. The final answer to this dilemma seems to be rather elusive.  Everyone knows how alcohol, if abused, can have adverse effects on your body.  But if taken moderately, alcohol, namely red wine, can actually have some benefits, according to research.

It is also thought that antioxidants in red wine can help prevent a heart attack and damage to the arteries.

Going back to resveratrol, it is important to point out that the substance has not been tested on humans.  Experiments made on rats showed that the substance might also prevent obesity and diabetes.

French researchers found that the moderate consumption of red wine can help improve mental prowess in women, especially those who are middle-aged.  It is also known that red wine has the particularity of not compromising the immune system, which is good news when it comes to fighting infections.

While more research needs to be conducted, research shows that we can take a sip every now and then and enjoy great time with a good glass of red wine.
